David Sedaris is OK. Admittedly, this book did not make me laugh out loud at any point, but this is more of a chuckle, smile sort of funny. His writing style is good, at some places though, the book seems lớn ramble & I kind of lost the thread. Once put down in the middle of reading, it did not pull me back to it in a hurry though. Maybe I have lớn read a couple of his other books to decide whether I lượt thích his books or not, but this book as such, is OK :)
Saying ‘David Sedaris is funny’ is gross injustice khổng lồ the man’s sense of humour. He pulls you into the story & then unleashes a tickle attack so suddenly, you will laugh out loud ( be prepared for weird stares from people around you). He is hilarious without trying to lớn be hilarious- & that’s the best kind of funny.
Maybe too American for my taste. But the Paris bits are funny. Maybe I expected too much as it"s touted to be one of the funniest books ever.

I first read a segment of this book in university for a study abroad prep course. I have come back lớn it ten years later & find it just as poignant now in relating to my experience as an American overseas as it was then. Sedaris takes self-deprecation to a completely new level and in doing so raises a lot of important points about how we see ourselves in the world, in our relationships & in daily life. I will definitely be reading more from him.
I was reading this on an airplane and was laughing so hard I couldn’t order a drink. It was a thirsty but wonderful experience.

Hilarious book, pirated copy rec.d from seller. Can"t return coz window closed, but better buy from authentic store/ roadside shops if you need it at discount.
